Mr S. Masood Husain, a Civil Engineering graduate from AMU, Aligarh in 1979, later obtained his M Tech (Water Resources) from IIT, Delhi. After joining the Central Water Commission as Assistant Director in 1982, he went on to become its Chairman and retired in June 2019.
He has got rich professional experience of more than 38 years in various areas of water resources sector. He has extensively worked in the field of planning, design, techno-economic appraisal, monitoring of various irrigation, hydropower, flood control and multipurpose projects including basin planning, flood management, and dam safety. He steered the national inter basin transfer of water programme commonly known as Interlinking of Rivers during 2013-18 as Director General of NWDA.
Presently he is chairman of the Dam Safety Panels constituted by the Governments of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
He is a Life Fellow/Member of various Professional Societies/Institutions like Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Water Resources Society. He has contributed a number of technical papers in various national and international conferences held in India as well as abroad. He has been to USA, Canada, Sweden, Iran, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal on official visit.
